My Feature in Everyday Health as #EverydayWoman

From Everyday Health’s Instagram:

“Meet Tina Aswani Omprakash — the #IBD warrior and chronic illness advocate behind @ownyourcrohns. Tina was diagnosed with #Crohns disease 13 years ago and has since undergone over 20 surgeries, including a permanent #ostomy, four near-death experiences, and countless IBD-related manifestations and diagnoses.

Tina is our #EverydayWoman today and everyday because despite her hardships with Crohn’s disease, she is passionate about leading a full and happy life and inspires others to do the same. Tina is an active leader in the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and often writes on her blog about living with an ostomy and other IBD-related issues. Her mantra is to celebrate life, in spite of being chronically ill. ? ‘We may have #chronicillness but it doesn’t have to have us. If we choose to own it, embrace it and rise above it, we can live lives filled with greater meaning and help others do the same. So, own your Crohn’s, own your chronic illness, and rise above that which sets you back to become the best version of yourself.’ — @ownyourcrohns

Tina recently started writing about her experience living with IBD for @EverydayHealth — check out https://www.everydayhealth.com/digestive-health/ibd-gifts-valentines-day/ to see her most recent piece!” ? #ownyourcrohns

Tina is a health advocate for patients living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Via her writing, social media and public speaking engagements, she spearheads public health causes, including those creating awareness for inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's & Colitis), life-saving ostomy surgery and initiatives supporting global women's and minorities' health. The intent of this blog is to give those suffering in silence and in shame a voice that creates greater awareness and acceptance. She owns her chronic illnesses and disabilities and her goal is for you to as well!
